Nowadays the place of psychosomatology in assessment and treatment of various diseases becomes more and more prominent. It has long been proven that many diseases have psychological and not always medical formation. Renowned Argentinian psychoanalyst Luis Chiozza has been involved in serious research in the field of psychosomatics for more than 40 years. Chiozza founded the Center of Psychoanalytic Studies and Psychosomatic Medicine (Centro de Investigación en Psicoanálisis y Medicina Psicosomática), Director of the Center of Clinical Medicine of Weizsaecker (Centro Weizsaecker de Consulta Medica), Director of Luis Chiozza Institute of Training and Studies (Instituto de Docencia e Investigación de la Fundación Luis Chiozza), honoured President of the Institute of Psychosomatic and Psychoanalytic Research Arminda Aberastury de Perugia (Istituto di Ricerca Psicosomatica-Psicoanalitica Arminda Aberastury de Perugia), the author of 30 books on psychoanalysis.

At the «Psychoanalysis and Psychosomatology» Seminar the participants will learn about the origins of psychosomatology, about the links between body and psyche, matter and form.

The Seminar will also cover topics as:
  • Oepidus, Narcisse and Prometheus
  • Dreams in the frame of a psychoanalytic session
  • What lacks in our lives
  • What is the origin of psychosomatologic disease and many others.

10:00 - 11:30 — Psychosomatology

  • Hysteria and the «birth» of psychosomatics.
  • Mysterious «leap» from the psychic into the somatic.
  • Three forms of conversion.
  • The second hypothesis of psychoanalysis, abandonment of Cartesian dualism.
  • Body and psyche. Matter and form.
  • Do we really think with our brain? Do we really feel with our heart?

11:30 - 12:00 - Coffee break

12.00 - 1.30 PM

  • Oedipus, Narcisse and Prometheus
  • Heart, brain and liver — three forms of being.

1.30 - 3.00 PM Lunch break

3.00 - 4.30 PM

  • Dreams in the frame of a psychoanalytic session.
  • Oedipal complex as a key complex in neuroses.
  • Four giants of our soul: envy, jealousy, rivalry and guilt.
  • On what lacks in our lives.

4.30 - 5.00 PM Coffee break

5.00 - 7.00 PM Supervision
